Cor van den Heuvel
Cor van den Heuvel edited The Haiku Anthology, published by Doubleday in 1974. The anthology was the first and largest of its kind in the English language. His correspondence with Virgilio in our archive sheds light on the making of the anthology. He is one of the most prominent haikuists in the English language, and has served as president of the Haiku Society of America and editor of various publications. He was also an editor at NEWSWEEK and his letterheads displaying his Madison Avenue office address make for an interesting contrast between the large publishing and small publishing worlds that Cor van den Heuvel simultaneously operated in separately.
Below are letters from van den Heuvel to Virgilio leading up to the publication of the anthology.
