Louis Untermeyer

Louis Untermeyer (1885-1977) was a distinguished poet, critic, and anthologist. His numerous books made modern American and British poetry accessible to a large audience. In 1961, he served as the 14th Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, a post now known as Poet Laureate. His acknowledgement of haiku as a literary form in English was an important step forward for haiku and Virgilio.
